Floor, glazing & skylight R-values parse · confirm

Green = read straight off your drawings (source shown). Amber = an assumption or conservative default — each needs an individual tap to accept. Red = not found — pick a standard build-up or type the value. Walls and roofs are confirmed per-construction below.

Amber assumptions and red gaps are never swept by this — accept them one by one.

Areas — you enter these not parsed

Measured to the finished internal face (para 2.1.2.10). Net wall is derived for you.

Floor type

Floor type drives the reference-building floor divisor (Table 2.1.2.7). Slab-on-ground and suspended floors are referenced differently — picking the wrong one is the single biggest source of false fails on slab homes. Slab-on-ground auto-computes its construction R from the Appendix E lookup; suspended timber auto-computes from the parsed floor build-up (NZS 4214 parallel-path). Other suspended floor (e.g. suspended concrete) is manual entry.

Net wall area (m²) — derived

Net roof = internal ceiling area of the thermal envelope (excludes an unconditioned garage; differs from the slab footprint on two-storey or garaged homes). Defaults to floor − skylight if left blank.

Embedded heating — in-slab / in-element heating outside bathrooms (para 2.1.2.12)

Tick if the design embeds heating (hydronic / electric coils) in the floor, ceiling or wall beyond bathrooms. These carry fixed minimum R-values (heated floor R2.5–R3.0 by zone, heated ceiling R6.6, heated wall R2.9) that the calculation method cannot reduce.

Wall constructions parse · you assign areas

We read the build-ups; you own the areas. Assign each construction its share of the net wall area. Add anything we missed, or build from scratch — the tool still calculates from manual entry.

Roof / ceiling constructions parse · you assign areas

One row per distinct roof or ceiling build-up — main, compressed perimeter, skillion, warm-roof. Areas sum to the net roof area.
